Brothers Needed Video Series
In partnership with Dr. Robert Murphy and funded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, the Brothers Needed video series was created to spotlight the importance of increasing African American male representation in education. The three-part series—The Challenge, The Connection, and The Resolution—follows Columbus City Schools students visiting Ohio University to explore the Brothers RISE teacher mentorship program.
These videos were part of a broader initiative to recruit and retain African American male educators by showing the power of representation and mentoring. As a co-producer, I used storytelling to drive awareness, support recruitment efforts, and promote lasting change in how we diversify the teaching workforce.
Leading during the Pandemic
In response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I led the transition of our traditional graduation ceremony to a virtual format. Recognizing the importance of this milestone for our students, I coordinated with faculty, staff, and technology teams to create an engaging online commencement experience. This included pre-recorded speeches, personalized student recognitions, and interactive elements to involve families and the broader community. By swiftly adapting to the circumstances, we ensured that our graduates were celebrated in a meaningful way, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to honoring their achievements despite the constraints of the pandemic.
